'Tis Eggnog Season

Updated: Dec 24, 2022

Like many people, we enjoy a glass of eggnog at this time of year. I've tried many recipes over the years but this year found my own blend of flavors that works exceptionally well. In the spirit of giving, I am sharing this recipe with you.

6 eggs, separated

1/2 cup granulated sugar

4 cups goat milk

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup Bourbon

1/4 cup Cognac

1/4 cup dark Rum

Start by whsking the eggs yolks until they are well blended, then add the sugar. Slowly add the milk, and continue whisking until is is well incorporated. At this time, add the alcohol. Place the bowl in the fridge for several hours to allow the flavors to blend. Now, whip the eggs whites until they form stiff peaks, and do the same with the cream. Fold the egg whites and cream into the mix and serve with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.

The ratio of alcohol to other ingredients feels perfect - it warms us up without feeling too boozy. It is rich but not overly sweet and we've found a batch does not last long, shared with friends and family. Enjoy!
