After much deliberation on the various breeds of hair sheep, we settled on Royal Whites.  This is a relatively new breed, having been developed only about 25 years ago, by crossing two other breeds of hair sheep – St. Croix and White Dorper.  The result is a sheep that is extremely docile and friendly, naturally polled (hornless), has hair that resembles a goat more than a sheep, grows into a decent sized butcher lamb, has good mothering ability, is naturally parasite resistant and needs little in the way of hoof care.

We raise our sheep 100% organically on grass.  We cut prairie hay off the property (also 100% organic) and use it to feed them over the winter.  The only inputs are free choice minerals, and they have salt blocks available year-round as well.  We avoid the use of dewormers by rotational grazing.

Our flock of sheep is not large but because ewes often have multiple births, they provide us with more lambs than we need for our family.  If you are looking for either butcher lambs or breeding stock, please use the contact us link to send us an email.

2020 Lambing update: We have one breeder quality Royal White ram lambs remaining.  Ewe lambs are sold out for the year.  Reservations on meat wethers are almost full - there is one whole or two halves remaining.

All breeder lambs will be sold scrapies tagged and up to date on CD/T vaccinations.
